Square One Construction’s first project, a two storey MINI showroom negotiated with Inchcape Estates Ltd and the 900k new build was completed in September 2010.
The design went through a number of amendments before achieving final approval and Square One Construction worked closely with the design team and client in value engineering various elements of the build costs.
Incorporating a vehicle lift to a first floor showroom, the building design stands out for its impact of the curtain walling and cladding detailing in providing a striking MINI dealership alongside the existing BMW dealership.
Square One Construction sourced both local and known contractors to carry out this project, identifying through the procurement process the key contractors where knowledge and experience of the MINI brand was critical in ensuring we achieved the desired finish determined by the design of the building.
The site was tight within the new boundaries defined for MINI and access to the works was via the existing BMW single entrance/exit which was managed by Square One Construction so as to cause minimum disruption to Cooper staff and customers during construction.
Although Mini Chelmsford was new build, it had to be constructed adjoining an existing dealership with a shared traffic access, also a private residence on another of the boundaries.
Square One understood and dealt professionally with these constraints and worked closely with both the dealership and the neighbour.
